The List: #4

And so it continues.
onto Number 4: List 10 things you would tell your 16 year-old self, if you could.

Dear high school Me:
STOP. *shaking my 16-year-old shoulders*
LISTEN TO ME.
I'm going to give you some free advice. You better take it to heart.
Seriously. I will smack you.
Ready?  Put down your phone.
Here goes...

1. Stop calling yourself fat. Look in the mirror and tell yourself you're beautiful.

2. Smile more. Yours will soon be dented.

3. Enjoy laughing with your friends, sleepovers, and inside jokes. One day you'll find yourselves far, far away - and not just in miles.

4. Be nice to your parents. Turns out they actually are always right. You, however, are not.

5. Think about college. Don't just go to go. Ask yourself this: What do you want to do in life? Who do you want to be? What are your interests? What do you love to do? The answers to these questions will guide you, not society's expectations of what you should be. It won't be easy to find, but you will.

6. Don't cross your arms and pout. It's not a good look for you.

7. Take more college prep classes and less honors classes. AP classes will get you nowhere except stressed boulevard. College credits are always useful. Be sure to take ones that will count at the universities you're considering.

8. Don't become student body president. Turns out even after you're done with high school, you still have to be part of planning the reunions.

9. Procrastination is okay. Believe me, it only gets worse as you get older.

10. Appreciate every. single. second. I know you've heard this a million times, but it's the most important thing I'll say. Soon you'll be off to college, in debt, you'll meet a boy, get married, buy a house, work full time, buy a car, pay bills - the list never ends.
Let me said this again - enjoy it while it lasts!

Sincerely,
your 24-year-old self
[who is way cooler and much wiser than you are. ;) ]
